Autopsy on Tob Cohen's Body Conducted in Nairobi ¶
On Thursday, a team of pathologists led by Chief Government pathologist Dr. Johansen Odour conducted an autopsy on Tob Cohen's body at the Chiromo Mortuary in Nairobi. The exercise lasted more than four hours.
Dr. Odour revealed that the team had made several findings, including the probable date of Cohen's death and the circumstances surrounding his killing. However, due to a court order issued by Justice Jessie Lesiit on Monday, the pathologists are unable to release the findings to the public.
The court order, which also applies to the media, prohibits the disclosure of any information related to the investigation. Dr. Odour stated that the team will compile the report and submit it to the relevant authorities, but it may take a few weeks due to the need for toxicological tests and DNA matching.
Wairimu, Cohen's widow, who is accused of murdering him, was present during the autopsy. Her lawyer, Murgor, had initially expressed concerns about the autopsy, citing a letter he had written to the Chiromo mortuary warning against the release of Cohen's body for burial. However, after the autopsy, Murgor announced that both parties had agreed to give Cohen a decent send-off.
On Tuesday, a government pathologist, Dr. Peter Njenga, was rejected by Wairimu's lawyer over remarks he made at the scene of the crime in Kitisuru. The autopsy was not without drama, but it ultimately proceeded with Dr. Odour leading the team.
