On Wednesday at around 2am, thieves broke into the house of a Cuban doctor in Homa Bay, stealing a TV set, music system, and other kitchenware.
The doctor, who was in her bedroom at the time, feared for her life and did not raise the alarm.
According to the doctor, the thieves cooked food from the refrigerator and ate in the kitchen before disappearing.
The Homa Bay County police commander, Esther Seroney, has deployed a team from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) to probe the theft.
Two police officers who were assigned to guard the doctor's house will also be questioned.
The incident comes six months after two Cuban doctors were abducted from their station in Mandera in April this year.
There are still no reports of their whereabouts, despite suspected Al Shabaab militants claiming responsibility and demanding Ksh.150 million as ransom.
Also, in March last year, Kenya and Cuba struck a deal to send 100 Cuban doctors to work in Kenya, and 50 Kenyan doctors to study in Cuba.
However, allegations of neglect and poor pay have raised concern from different quarters.
