Christian McCaffrey's Fitness Secrets for Jacked Arms ¶
Carolina Panthers running back Christian McCaffrey has been making waves in the NFL with his impressive performance on the field. But what's behind his impressive physique? McCaffrey's intense offseason training program has paid off, with the star player looking stronger and faster than ever.
According to an interview with ESPN in May, McCaffrey said, "I'm way stronger than I was last year. The faster I can get, the better as well. You can always get bigger, faster, stronger."
McCaffrey's trainer, Brian Kula, revealed that the two run an "underground operation," working together where and when they can, rather than going to a fancy training facility. This approach has clearly paid off, with McCaffrey's arms looking particularly impressive.
At 5'11'' and 205 pounds, McCaffrey's frame isn't particularly big or small for his position. However, his dedication to his training program has clearly made a difference, with him averaging nearly 5 yards per carry and 12 catches through two games.
So, how can you get arms like McCaffrey's? Fitness director Ebenezer Samuel, C.S.C.S., suggests using moves like the dumbbell curl series that perfects the 'forearms parallel to ground' position. Check out his tips below:
- Stand (or kneel) holding a set of medium weight dumbbells. Squeeze your core and glutes to maintain proper positioning.
- Hold the dumbbells with a supinated (underhand) grip in a parallel to the ground position, essentially in a half-rep. Make sure both heads of the weight are completely parallel.
- Squeeze your biceps to perform a standard curl with one arm while maintaining the hold in parallel position with the other. Return to the halfway hold position after the rep.
- Repeat the movement with the other arm.
McCaffrey also talked about the diet that helps keep him in top shape. He says early on in his career, he ran blood work and worked with a chef, which helped to realize the things his body was deficient in. This meant cutting out chicken, tuna, wheat, and soy, and focusing only on stuff that will build towards his improvement.
"Now, everything that I eat is pertinent to what I need for my best performance," McCaffrey said.
With these tips and a dedication to your training program, you can get arms like McCaffrey's in no time.
