On September 18, 2019, President Uhuru Kenyatta signed into law two significant bills, marking a crucial step in the country's financial and intellectual property landscape.

The County Allocation of Revenue Bill, 2019, provides for the equitable allocation of revenue raised nationally to counties for the 2019/20 financial year.

According to the law, Sh378.1 billion has been allocated to county governments for the 2019/20 financial year, with Sh316.5 billion being the equitable share of national revenue and Sh61.6 billion as conditional allocations.

The Division of Revenue Bill, 2019, facilitates the transfer of allocated funds from the Consolidated Fund to the respective county revenue funds, paving the way for the release of funds to counties.

Additionally, President Kenyatta signed the Copyright (Amendment) Bill, 2019, aimed at addressing growing concerns about royalty rights in the country, especially the collection and disbursement of fees and dues to copyright holders.

The signing ceremony was witnessed by Deputy President William Ruto, Head of Public Service Joseph Kinyua, Attorney-General Paul Kihara, National Assembly Speaker Justin Muturi, and Senate Speaker Ken Lusaka, among others.
