On September 18, 2019, Cameroon's football landscape was set to change with the application of a legendary figure, Patrick Mboma, for the position of head coach of the Indomitable Lions. Mboma, a 48-year-old football icon, expressed interest in replacing Clarence Seedorf as the team's head coach.
According to Mboma, Algeria's Africa Cup of Nations winning manager Djamel Belmadi played a significant role in his decision to apply for the position. The Indomitable Lions, winners of the 2017 Africa Cup of Nations, have been without a permanent coach, creating an opportunity for Mboma to take the reins.
