On September 18, 2019, a dramatic scene unfolded at the National Assembly when musician Esther Akoth, aka Akothee, attempted to gain access to the mini dining area dressed in a mini-skirt.

The singer, who was in Parliament to lobby for the launch of her foundation, was denied entry by the sergeant-at-arms due to her attire.

Akothee refused to cover her luminous green skirt suit, causing a scene and prompting female MPs Soipan Tuya and Racheal Nyamai to intervene.

After some persuasion, Akothee agreed to cover herself, and the drama was averted.

Speaking to nominated MP David Sankok after the meeting, Akothee joked that the problem was her legs being longer than the skirt.
