Tob Cohen Wife's Plea Dates Postponed by Court ¶
On September 16, 2019, Justice Jessie Lessit postponed the plea taking of Sarah Wairimu, the wife of Dutch businessman Tob Cohen, who has been in custody since August 28, 2019.
The court directed Sarah Wairimu to undergo a mental exam within the next seven days, citing that she had not yet visited a psychiatrist for the assessment.
Justice Lessit also agreed to a request from defense lawyer Philip Murgor to argue his client's bail application after she takes her plea on September 26.
The judge further directed that Sarah Wairimu should remain in remand at Lang'ata Women Prison for the next 10 days.
Off the record, State Counsel Nicholas Mutuku stated that the prosecution would oppose the request for bail application and were ready to table evidence against the accused.
