On May 2019, the Nairobi Club held its Annual General Meeting (AGM), which ushered in a new committee with personal agendas that prioritized their own interests over serving the club's members.

The committee, led by a chairman who has been accused of watching the unfolding crisis with excitement, has been accused of orchestrating a coup against the club's members.

Four board members resigned in less than three months, citing issues of governance and vested interests. The remaining board members, including the chairman, have been accused of incorporating Vicky Tumbo illegally, despite her being removed from the board in 2013 on disciplinary grounds.

The club has never been the same since the AGM, with the committee using aggressive tactics to mobilize members and push through their agenda. The committee has also been accused of reinstating five former staff members who had been dismissed for serious disciplinary issues, including theft.

The club's financial situation has also deteriorated, with a debt of over Sh 120 million. The committee has been accused of adding to the payroll, despite the club being in the red.

The AGM had directed that the position of CEO be competitively sourced, but the committee has instead promised to confirm the current acting CEO, who is seen as a rubber stamp for their illegalities.

Concerned club members have called on the past Club Presidents and past Club Chairmen to redeem the club and stop the misplaced activities. They have also accused the committee of running the club like a company, with the chairman watching with excitement.
