Manchester United, one of the top contenders for the Europa League title, has been tipped by a supercomputer to win the competition.

According to data analysts at FiveThirtyEight, United's chances of winning the trophy have been rated at 8 per cent ahead of any of their rivals.

The Red Devils will kick off their campaign against Astana on Thursday, September 19, at Old Trafford, with the hope of replicating their 2017/18 heroics that saw them lift the title under Jose Mourinho.

Manchester United are set to make a return to Europa League after failing to seal a Champions League slot in the 2018/19 campaign.

United finished sixth last season, behind Manchester City, Liverpool, Tottenham, and Chelsea who completed a top four finish.

Meanwhile, the Red Devils have been drawn in Group L alongside Astana, AZ Alkmaar, and Partizan Beograd.
