President Uhuru Kenyatta has cancelled the Kimwarer dam project, citing a probe that found irregularities in the tendering process.

The project, which was valued at Sh62 billion, was one of the flagship projects of the Jubilee administration.

According to sources, the probe found that the tendering process was marred by irregularities, including the awarding of the contract to a company that did not meet the required qualifications.

President Kenyatta has approved the Arror dam project, which is also located in the Rift Valley region, after a probe cleared it of any irregularities.

The Arror dam project is valued at Sh62 billion and is expected to provide water to the residents of the Rift Valley region.

President Kenyatta's decision to cancel the Kimwarer dam project and approve the Arror dam project is seen as a major boost to the Jubilee administration's efforts to deliver on its campaign promises.
