Published on September 18, 2019, Akothee's visit to Parliament was met with controversy when she was barred from entering the August house due to her dress code.
David Ole Sankok, chairman of the National Council of Persons living with disabilities, has come to Akothee's defence, stating that she was 'well dressed' and 'beautiful with long legs'.
According to Sankok, Akothee had paid a visit to Parliament to meet him before she was stopped by security at the gate.
Speaking about the incident, Sankok said, 'How can I apologize for bringing a beautiful Kenyan with long legs to invite MPs to support her fund to help suffering Kenyans in Turkana?'
He also added that when he went to receive Akothee at the gate, he analyzed her from all angles and found her to be well dressed.
However, Sankok noted that when he came to Parliament, he was told that the skirt must be below the knee, which he felt was an unfair rule.
Akothee herself spoke about her dressing, stating that she had decent enough and would consider wearing a trouser next time.
She also added that it is nice for such places to have a set code of dressing to allow for sanity to reign.
