Lula Wins 2019 Southern Africa Startup Awards ¶
On September 18, 2019, Lula, a shuttle service connecting corporate commuters to private shuttles, was named the winner of the 2019 Southern Africa Startup Awards - South Africa Chapter.
The Southern Africa Startup Awards celebrates and recognizes innovation in the startup ecosystem in Southern Africa (SADC). The awards ceremony took place in Johannesburg from November 27-28, 2019, where the regional winners were announced.
According to the organizers, Lula benefits cities by reducing congestion, increasing accessibility through crowdsourced routes, and encouraging more liveable spaces. The service also helps transport providers take their service to the next level by bringing them to a larger audience, digitising their fleet, and improving their utilisation rates.
Other winners of the 2019 Southern Africa Startup Awards include Mama Money (Fintech of the Year), Lynette Hundermark (Female Role Model of the Year In Tech), and GrowthWheel SA (Best Startup Ecosystem Initiative), among others.
