On September 18, 2019, Sarah Wairimu, the widow of Dutch tycoon Tob Cohen, was locked up at Lang'ata Women's Prison in Nairobi on the accusation of murdering her estranged husband.

Ms Wairimu, who claims to be the lawfully married wife despite the trumped-up murder charges she is facing, has written to Chiromo Mortuary in Nairobi asking its management not to release Mr Cohen's body to his sister Gabrielle.

According to Ms Wairimu, Gabrielle is 'in a hurry to quickly' intern the remains at an undisclosed location and leave Kenya.

Ms Cohen's sister is said to have requested the speedy conclusion of the postmortem to enable her bury her brother and return home.

Ms Wairimu's lawyer, Philip Murgor, noted in the letter that she 'remains the innocent until proven guilty' and attached her marriage certificate.

Mr Murgor also stated, 'It is not our client who must get a court order to bury her husband. To the contrary, it is the sister who does not live in Kenya who must get a court order.'

Ms Wairimu has offered to settle her late husband's preservation fees.

The Dutchman went missing between July and July 20 and his body was found in a water tank in his compound in Kitisuru, Nairobi, last Friday, 55 days later.
