Vanessa Mdee's rise to fame in the entertainment industry is a well-known story, but few know about her educational background. In a rare interview, the Tanzanian singer revealed that she did not complete her college studies.

According to Mdee, her father's death left her family with significant financial challenges, making it impossible for her to afford school fees. This led her to pursue a career at MTV Africa as the first Tanzanian MTV VJ.

She went on to host several TV and radio shows in Tanzania, eventually becoming a household name. Mdee's journey is a testament to her determination and resilience in the face of adversity.

As she looks back on her past, Mdee reflected on the bittersweet memories of her time at college. In a poignant post on social media, she wrote:

"I dropped out of college when Dad died to pursue my career at MTV AFRICA because we couldn’t afford it anymore. Today I return to that very same college as a judge on @eastafricagt to see someone else’s dreams become a reality. Bittersweet memories BE GONE, we are making history"

Today, Mdee is a judge on East Africa's Got Talent, alongside Jeff Koinange from Kenya and Gaitano from Uganda. Her success is a reminder that with hard work and dedication, anything is possible.
