On September 17, 2019, Napoli secured a 2-0 victory over Liverpool in the Champions League, with Dries Mertens and Fernando Llorente scoring late in the match at the San Paolo Stadium.
Despite the win, Napoli coach Carlo Ancelotti remained cautious, stating that there was no sense of 'euphoria' after the match.
'Euphoria at what? We won the first match, it was a good test and we come out of this match aware that this team can do well,' Ancelotti said.
Ancelotti, who has started his second season at Napoli, acknowledged that the team's performance had given them confidence, but emphasized the importance of consistency in the group stage.
'It's proven that this team can perform very well, dig in and make sacrifices,' Ancelotti said.
Napoli's next matches in the Champions League will be against Genk on October 2, Salzburg, and a return trip to Anfield on November 27.
