On September 18, 2019, Weekly Citizen exposed a scandal involving Ben Wanjala, the MCA representing Kapomboi ward in Trans Nzoia county, who allegedly siphoned funds meant for road construction.

According to the report, Wanjala, also known as Mulipuko, claimed to have constructed only two Early Childhood Development Education classes since his election in 2017, despite receiving Sh20 million each year.

When questioned about the lack of progress on road construction, Wanjala failed to provide a clear answer, instead claiming to have planted banana trees along the Namanjalala-Kapsitwet roads in 2017.

Residents in Kapomboi ward have since begun collecting signatures to recall Wanjala due to his poor performance and lack of public participation.

Other roads in the ward, including Matisi corner and Makutano-Chemususu roads, have worsened, causing daily transportation difficulties during the harvesting season.

It was also alleged that Wanjala siphoned Sh4 million meant for road construction, but he failed to defend himself on air.
