On Wednesday, September 18, 2019, anti-riot police in Kisumu lobbed teargas to disperse county assembly members who had gathered to prevent Speaker Onyango Oloo from entering his office.

The chaos erupted just days after the Members of County Assembly sought to replace former TNA Party Secretary General MCA Elisha Oraro of Kisumu North ward.

Speaker Onyango Oloo is facing corruption-related charges in the Sh4.1 billion Kisumu Lake Basin Mall, which was put up when he was serving as the Chair of Lake Basin Development Authority.
