The International Court of Justice in The Hague is set to hold public hearings on the maritime dispute between Kenya and Somalia in early November.
On September 18, 2019, the court outlined conditions for journalists, diplomats, and members of the public wishing to attend the hearings.
Journalists who had received initial accreditation for the hearings, initially set for the first week of September, have been told they will have to reapply by October 24.
Priority access will be given to representatives of the States Parties to the case, including Kenya and Somalia, and to members of the diplomatic corps, according to a statement from the court.
Additionally, a limited number of seats will be allocated to members of the public on a first-come, first-served basis, with no advance registration procedure.
