On September 18, 2019, Rift Valley Regional Commissioner George Natembeya issued a stern warning to Kenyans who demand compensation or threaten to block government projects.

According to Natembeya, many residents in areas where government projects are underway have been issuing conditions and ultimatums for the implementation of these projects.

"Others go to the extent of threatening to block the projects, insisting that they must be considered for jobs or compensation. This is getting out of hand and has affected many government projects," Natembeya said.

He further stated that the government will not tolerate such behavior and will arrest those who obstruct government projects.

"We shall be arresting such people and charging them in court for obstructing the government from undertaking its projects," Natembeya warned.

The warning comes as residents in Chemusus and Itare have been demanding compensation and benefits from the government for projects initiated in their areas.
