December 9, 2017, marked a significant day for the National Super Alliance (NASA) as Wiper Party, an affiliate party, announced its full support for the swearing-in of NASA's leader, Raila Odinga, and his deputy, Kalonzo Musyoka.

According to Wiper's secretariat, the party is committed to ensuring that Musyoka is sworn in as the deputy to the People's Assembly President, whether he is in Kenya or not. The planned event is scheduled for December 12, the same day Kenyans will be celebrating Jamhuri Day, marking 54 years after Kenya achieved self-rule from Britain.

Wiper views the presidency as a joint venture, with Kalonzo Musyoka serving as an assistant to Raila Odinga. This perspective is reflected in their statement that Musyoka will be sworn in alongside Odinga.

However, Kalonzo Musyoka has been away from the country for several days, attending to his ailing wife, Pauline, who is believed to be in a hospital in Germany. Despite his absence, Wiper remains committed to ensuring that Musyoka is sworn in as the deputy president.

Another NASA affiliate, Amani National Congress (ANC), has also affirmed its support for the swearing-in event. ANC, led by Musalia Mudavadi, announced its support after a consultative meeting with its leaders in Gilgil.

Mudavadi echoed Odinga's earlier statement, saying that ANC does not recognize the presidency of Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy, William Ruto. The party views the two leaders as egocentric individuals who are running the country against the will of the people.

On Thursday, December 6, Attorney General Githu Muigai warned Raila against being sworn in, terming the move treasonable and punishable by law.
