Chief Administrative Secretary Simon Kachapin has fired back at West Pokot Governor John Lonyangapou, dismissing reports that he had joined the Kanu party.

Speaking to the press after returning from Australia, Kachapin stated that he is in Jubilee to stay and will contest the West Pokot gubernatorial seat in the 2022 general elections.

“Prepare for a political battle in 2022, as I am set to reclaim my seat that I lost to you narrowly,” Kachapin told Governor Lonyangapou.

He added that those propagating the matter were scared of his increased political popularity in the region.

“Why should I move out of Jubilee? This is my party of choice and those peddling rumors that I have moved out of Jubilee have their own agenda which I am not going to entertain,” he said.

West Pokot Senator Samwel Poghisio, who has severed links with Lonyangapou, has pledged to support Kachapin in the 2022 general elections.

Senator Poghisio apologized to the Pokots for supporting Lonyangapou during the 2018 general elections and praised Kachapin for his commitment to helping the Pokot community.
