Published on September 18, 2019, Kirinyaga County Assembly Speaker David Githanda has tendered his resignation, citing personal reasons.

Mr. Githanda submitted his resignation on Tuesday, stating that it would take effect on August 15, 2019. He expressed hope that the Assembly would have commenced the process of appointing a new speaker by then to ensure a smooth transition.

David Githanda was sworn in as the Speaker of the County Assembly of Kirinyaga in February 2018.
