Published on September 18, 2019, several Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Members of Parliament have come to the defense of the handshake between President Uhuru Kenyatta and ODM leader Raila Odinga.

During a Church service at Reru Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Seme Constituency, the legislators vowed to stay strong in President Kenyatta's support to stop early campaigns.

Ruaraka Member of Parliament TJ Kajwang assured President Kenyatta that they are behind the government, stating that they are fed up being in opposition all the time.

TJ Kajwang claimed that there is time for everything and it was the right time for the Luo community to also be part of the government, which made the Christians applaud him.

Nyando MP Jared Okello heated the debate when he said that Deputy President William Ruto was busy engaging in early campaigns before 2022 and Ruto is busy blaming the power over handshake whenever he faces criticism from other leaders.

Okello posed to the DP Ruto that the handshake team is focused on better and bigger things and Ruto should not link handshake to woes since it is not an impediment to his work.
