Naivas is mourning the loss of Monicah Wanjiru, the wife of its late chairman Simon Mukuha, who succumbed to cancer at the Aga Khan Hospital in Nairobi on September 17, 2019.

Wanjiru, 58, had been battling cancer for a long time, a fight that saw her husband take her to India for medication. However, the cancer was found to be at an advanced stage, and doctors advised that she be put under palliative care back home.

She was admitted to the Intensive Care Unit at Aga Khan two weeks ago after her condition worsened, according to Naivas Managing Director David Kimani.

Wanjiru will be laid to rest on Thursday at Lang'ata Cemetery in Nairobi, next to her husband's grave.
