100 Lille Fans Arrested Ahead of Ajax Match

Published on September 17, 2019, Dutch police took at least 100 unruly Lille fans into custody ahead of the Champions League game against Ajax.

The arrests occurred at a station near the Johan Cruyff Arena hours before the Group H match, which kicked off at 10pm EAT.

According to Amsterdam police, the supporters were arrested for disturbing the public order, setting off fireworks, and engaging in violence.

Additionally, the fans were walking along the metro lines, forcing officials to halt rail traffic and evacuate two stations temporarily, as reported by the ANP national news agency.
