On September 17, 2019, the Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission (EACC) secured a court order prohibiting Samburu Governor Moses Lenolkulal from accessing his assets, including a parcel of land in Karen, Nairobi, and funds in two accounts held at KCB Bank.
The EACC is seeking recovery of over Ksh.80 million from the governor as proceeds of corruption and for forfeiture of the parcels of land acquired with the proceeds of corrupt conduct.
According to the EACC, investigations indicate that Governor Lenolkulal bought the said properties using public funds, which he obtained by irregularly supplying fuel to the Samburu County Government through his fuel company, Oryx Service Station, between March 27, 2013 and March 25, 2019.
Lawyer Diana Kenduiwa told the court that the EACC has concluded its investigation of Lenolkulal and Oryx Service Station, a company associated with the governor.
The commission is seeking to have the assets surrendered to the State, and the governor remains out of office after the court declined to review orders sought by Lenolkulal seeking to be allowed to access his office in June this year.
