Published on September 17, 2019, Andela's restructuring efforts have led to the departure of 400 junior engineers and staff from its Kenyan, Ugandan, and Nigerian hubs.

The company, which builds distributed engineering teams, has offices in New York, Kenya, Rwanda, Nigeria, Uganda, and Egypt.

Andela's business model involved training local entry-level developers to be globally competitive, placing them on four-year contracts and earning revenues by outsourcing their skills to clients in that time frame.

However, the firm says there is a shift in the market as customers are moving towards and seeking engineers that are more experienced.
