Genk striker Mbwana Samatta is set to make history by becoming the first Tanzanian to play in the Champions League, UEFA's top tier competition.

On September 17, 2019, Samatta will take to the Wals Siezenheim Stadium (Red Bull Stadium) when the Belgian side challenge Red Bull Salzburg in their group E match.

Samatta, 26, has had a successful season with Genk, earning the Golden Boot after racking up 20 goals last season and currently being joint top scorer in the 2019/20 campaign with five goals.

He has also won the Ebony Shoe award in Belgium for his outstanding season with Genk.

Defending champions Liverpool and Napoli complete group E, with Samatta set to face the Reds in a highly anticipated clash.

Samatta previously expressed his eagerness to face Liverpool in the UEFA Champions League clash.
