Located in Naivasha and Menengai, the Olkaria power plants are part of the vast Nakuru County. The county's industrial sector has seen a significant boost due to the availability of cheap and affordable electricity generated from geothermal energy.

Thanks to this energy source, Nakuru County is now a vibrant and bustling industrial hub, reclaiming its former lost glory. The county is set to benefit further as the government plans to build an industrial park and a dry port in Naivasha, following an unprecedented boom in geothermal energy exploration and production.

Nakuru County Governor Lee Kinyanjui recently declared that the county was on the rise, driven by the geothermal industry. "Due to ongoing geothermal production, we are anticipating a boom in the geothermal industry in the county, which will in turn open some of the most exciting investment opportunities for investors," he said.

Kenya Electricity Generating Company PLC (KenGen) is putting up several power plants in Naivasha's Olkaria area to produce more energy. In Menengai, 20 kilometers from Nakuru Town, Geothermal Development Company (GDC) has completed drilling several geothermal wells.
