Rwandan Court Jails Kenyan Entrepreneur Charles Kinuthia for Two Years

On September 17, 2019, a court in Kigali, Rwanda, sentenced Kenyan entrepreneur Charles Kinuthia to two years in prison for allegedly running a fake training scam in Rwanda.

According to reports, Kinuthia, a high-flying businessman and motivational speaker, was arrested in 2019 after a botched event dubbed the Money Wealth and Business Conference. The event, which was supposed to take place on June 25, 2019, at the Radisson Blu Hotel in Kigali, was attended by thousands of hopeful participants who had paid at least $5 to register.

However, the organizers never showed up, leaving the participants frustrated and angry. The incident sparked widespread outrage, with many accusing Kinuthia of running a scam.

Kinuthia, who goes by the stage name Coach CK, has denied the allegations, claiming that he was a victim of a state-orchestrated sabotage. He has been held in inhumane conditions in Mageragere Prison, 30 km outside of Kigali, Rwanda, since his arrest.

The case has sparked a heated debate about the treatment of Kenyans in Rwanda, with many calling for the Kenyan government to intervene and ensure that Kinuthia and other Kenyans being held in similar conditions are given due process.

As we reported in our previous articles, Kinuthia's case is a stark reminder of the injustices faced by Kenyans in Rwanda. We urge the Kenyan government to take immediate action to protect the welfare of its citizens and ensure that they are treated fairly and with dignity.
