On September 17, 2019, Nyakundi Report reported that Boni Khalwale, a prominent politician and former Member of Parliament, threatened to embarrass Raila Odinga in the Kibra by-election.
Khalwale, a vocal supporter of President Uhuru Kenyatta, made the statement in an effort to rally support for the Jubilee Party candidate in the highly contested election.
As the by-election approached, tensions were high, and Khalwale's comments added to the already charged atmosphere.
