Published on September 17, 2019, Mama Lucy Kibaki Hospital in Nairobi has been holding seven unclaimed bodies for nearly four months.

The hospital has now urged family members to pick up the bodies, with the county government offering to waive morgue charges for those who cannot afford them.

According to hospital officials, the seven bodies were identified by homicide detectives as victims of road accidents or natural illness.

Two of the bodies remain unidentified, with fingerprints taken from the bodies in an attempt to establish their identities.

Emergency departments at the hospital receive patients from across the country, some of whom have no documents to ascertain their identity.

County officials have advertised for the collection of unclaimed bodies from Mbagathi Hospital and the City Mortuary.
