President Robert Mugabe's grip on power is slipping, with Zimbabwe's ruling party ZANU-PF set to launch an impeachment motion against him on Tuesday, November 21, 2017.
The motion comes after a military takeover last week, which was sparked by the sacking of Vice President Emmerson Mnangagwa, a move that has left Mugabe reeling.
Mugabe, 93, has ruled Zimbabwe for 37 years since its independence from Britain in 1980, and is the only president that most of the country's young population have known.
As the country teeters on the brink of change, the ZANU-PF has instructed its chief whip to proceed with the impeachment processes, with the motion set to be presented to the National Assembly today.
Army General Constantino Chiwenga has called for Zimbabweans to remain calm amidst celebration and anti-Mugabe protests that have been witnessed in the country since Saturday.
