On September 17, 2019, a heartwarming story emerged from Busia County, where a young boy with a disability had been crawling to school due to lack of mobility aid.

Well-wishers, moved by his plight, came to his aid after his pictures were widely shared on social media platforms.

Busia Woman Representative Florence Mutua visited the boy and his family to assess their needs and provide assistance.

"My team has visited the boy to be specific on what’s needed either wheelchair or tricycle; the necessary is being done. Cases are many but handling as many as we can to make the PLWDs movement and life easier," Mutua tweeted.

She also highlighted the need for parents and guardians to be open about their children's special needs, rather than hiding them.

"Unless some cases are highlighted it is hard to know all. I have overtime told parents with children who are special not to hide them but come for help," the lawmaker said in a statement on Twitter.
