Published on September 17, 2019, Ugandan Speaker Rebecca Kadaga has cautioned lawmakers and protocol officers against engaging in 'reckless' sex during the forthcoming Commonwealth Parliamentary Conference.

The 64th edition of the conference is set to take place at the Resort Hotel in Kampala from September 22 to 29, with over a thousand delegates, including speakers and parliamentarians from 180 Commonwealth nations, expected to attend.

According to Kadaga, lawmakers should avoid entering visitors' rooms, saying, 'When you take them (delegates) to their rooms, stop at the door, you can put in the luggage together with the hotel waiter but don’t loiter in these rooms. Do your work and leave.'

Kadaga also highlighted the importance of responsible behavior, citing Uganda's history of children born to fathers who disappeared without a trace. She urged lawmakers to be cautious in their interactions with foreign delegates, saying, 'A man from Jamaica, when will you see him again? And for the men, a woman from the Pacific, Naulu, when will you ever reach there? So you may just be very careful with what you do.'

On a more serious note, Kadaga also encouraged stakeholders in the tourism sector to capitalize on the opportunity and positively market Uganda.
