The global Halal economy is experiencing a boom, with the industry estimated at over $2.1 trillion. In Kenya, the Halal market is growing rapidly, drawing from various sectors including food, cosmetics, and tourism.
The third Halal trade exhibition, themed 'The untapped growing economy', will take place at the Sarit Centre in Nairobi from September 20-21. The event aims to provide a platform for exhibitors to showcase and market their businesses that align with Islamic principles.
According to Munawer Ismail, CEO of Maahad Daawah Organization, the Halal Expo will continue to give Kenyans an opportunity to learn about and understand Halal businesses that have seen significant growth in standardization of products across the country's market.
Organizers stated that the event will highlight the growth of Halal tourism, one of the fastest-growing sectors of the global travel industry. They noted that flights with no alcohol on the drink carts and hotels with separate swimming pools for men and women are becoming increasingly popular.
The inaugural event in 2016 attracted over 5,000 people, and this year's event is expected to be just as successful. More than 100 exhibitors have confirmed their participation, representing various sectors including Islamic Finance institutions, Real Estate companies, and SMEs.
As Kenya seeks to position itself as the hub of the growing Halal sector in the region, the third Halal trade exhibition is set to be a significant event in the country's economic calendar.
