On September 5, 2019, a daring heist occurred in Nairobi West, where a gang posing as police officers stole Ksh.72 million from G4S personnel.
Fast forward to the present, detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested another G4S employee, Bernard Sewanga, in connection to the heist.
Acting on a tip-off, the sleuths arrested Sewanga at a newly rented house in Ruiru, where he had reportedly gone to hide after the heist.
During the arrest, Sewanga led the officers to the home of his father-in-law in Lurambi, Kakamega County, where Ksh.1 million was found in a black bag covered with a nylon paper buried in a cow shed.
Two other suspects, John Kamau Mulei and his brother Bernard Mwendwa, were also arrested in connection to the heist, with Ksh.2,389,000 recovered.
Mr. Sewanga is presently being held in Nairobi awaiting arraignment and court.
