On September 16, 2019, National Assembly Majority Leader Aden Duale publicly declared his support for a constitutional review that would propose a parliamentary system of governance.

According to Duale, a parliamentary system would help alleviate the dominance of bigger tribes in the country, thereby reducing political tensions that often arise during presidential elections.

He emphasized that he would only support ODM leader Raila Odinga's calls for a constitutional review if it would lead to the adoption of a parliamentary system, where the president is elected by parliament.

Meanwhile, a group of women leaders, led by Nominated Senator Dr. Getrude Musuruve, urged their fellow women to support one another in order to develop the country.

They made this call during a peace meeting at the Friends Church along Ngong Road, where they also appealed to politicians to respect the 'handshake' between the president and ODM leader for the nation to prosper.
