On September 16, 2019, a tragic incident shook Kyuasini village in Makueni County, where a six-year-old girl was found murdered in a pit latrine.
According to County Police Commander Joseph Ole Naipeyan, the suspects, Frederick Mbindyo (17) and Peter Musyoki (40), an ex-convict, were arrested following a tip-off from the public.
"An anonymous note posted on a wall of a shop in the nearby Kitoondoni market revealed the body of the girl had been dumped in a pit latrine in one of the suspect's homestead," said Naipeyan.
The suspects allegedly killed the minor, a pupil at a local nursery school who had been reported missing since September 9, after defiling her and stashed the body in a plastic container before dumping it in the 15 feet deep pit latrine.
The suspects are currently being held at the Makueni police station and will be arraigned in court tomorrow.
The body of the minor has been taken to the Makueni County Referral hospital awaiting postmortem.
