Nairobi Woman Representative Esther Passaris has been admitted at the Aga Khan Hospital for a medical procedure to alleviate her long-standing backaches.

According to her Twitter page, Passaris has been battling backaches for almost 20 years, which started after her pregnancy.

She shared that the pain has been a matter of recurrence, coming and going, and has been a source of sleepless nights.

Passaris has undergone several tests, which she said have cost her a lot, but she believes that with Universal Health Care, Kenya can have efficient public hospitals with good doctors.

She urged Kenyans to embrace Universal Health Care, but noted that most Kenyans do not pay for insurance cover.

Passaris is under the care of Dr. Thikra Shariff and Livingstone Olunya at the Aga Khan Hospital.

She underwent thyroidectomy surgery to remove her goiter in February at Nairobi hospital, which had been growing for 10 years.

Passaris said she has been struggling to keep her back balanced for longer, and the pain has been terribly painful even with painkillers.

She shared her struggles in a Twitter post, saying, "I can’t sleep. I look so exhausted. I don’t sleep at night. I just keep turning on the bed even with the painkillers. The horizontal position is terribly painful,"

Passaris is expected to undergo a Medial Branch Block procedure plus Paraspinal at the Aga Khan Hospital.
