On September 16, 2019, the Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (ODPP) led by DDPP Nicholas Mutuku applied for more time to allow for a postmortem and mental assessment of Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, the wife of the late Tob Cohen.

The application was made in the murder case of Tob Cohen, a Dutch businessman who went missing between July 19th and 20th, 2019. His body was later discovered in an underground water storage tank at his Kitisuru home by @DCI_Kenya Homicide Detectives.

Justice Jessie Lesiit granted the prosecution and defence a week to agree on when the mental assessment should be conducted before Wairimu can formally plead on the murder charges.

Lesiit also barred the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and the media from commenting or publishing anything related to the matter.

Wairimu has been in custody for more than two weeks after police arrested her following the disappearance of her husband in July.

On Friday, detectives retrieved Cohen's body from the underground water storage tank, which had been completely sealed with concrete and disguised with bushy wood cuttings.

The preliminary investigations established that Cohen was killed right inside his house, and the killers may have bound his legs, hands, and neck before killing him and dumping his body in the septic tank.

Tob Cohen's post-mortem examinations will be conducted on Tuesday at Chiromo Mortuary, and the examinations will be done by a private doctor identified by the family.
