Published on September 16, 2019, a tragic incident occurred in Kakamega County, where a 14-year-old boy killed his 15-year-old friend in a name-calling game gone wrong.

Mchongoano, a common name-calling game among kids, is usually done on a light note and ends when an opponent runs out of 'disses' and is laughed away by others.

However, in this case, the game turned deadly when the 14-year-old boy, a Class Five pupil, started a quarrel with his friend after they engaged in the name-calling contest.

The two boys later got into a fight before the suspect hit his opponent with a stone on the head, causing the victim to collapse unconscious.

Despite regaining strength and walking home, the victim, a Form One student at Handow Secondary School, later developed complications that led to his death upon arrival at the Mulimani Sub County Hospital.

Police have opened investigations into the incident, and the main suspect, along with another friend who witnessed the incident, have been arrested.
