On September 16, 2019, the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) cleared Agatha Mutua Mariga to contest in the Kibra by-election.
Mariga, a former Member of Parliament, had expressed interest in the seat following the death of the area's MP, Ken Okoth.
IEBC's clearance comes after Mariga met the required qualifications and submitted her nomination papers.
