On Monday, police recovered Sh2.3 million in new currencies from a house in Nairobi West, following a tip-off that led them to a suspect in Machakos.

The suspect, a brother to another suspect arrested on September 12, had been arrested in Muumandu, Machakos, after a tip-off.

According to Director of Criminal Investigations George Kinoti, the latest suspect was arrested following a tip-off, and after interrogation, he led police to his grandmother's house in Nairobi West, where the cash was recovered.

Police had earlier recovered Sh7 million from two suspects in custody, and six other suspects are still being held over the heist.

The six suspects, including three police officers, were charged with robbing G4S staff of Sh74 million and 38 cassettes, 13 purge bins, and 13 canvas bags, totaling Sh75.9 million.

Prosecutors alleged that the suspects were in possession of dangerous weapons and threatened to use violence on the staff during the raid on September 5.

“No criminal will rest or have peace after committing a crime,” said Kinoti.

Police investigations show that the masterminds of the heist were the security firm staff, police, and bank staff.
