On September 16, 2019, Joshua Ogach, a Nairobi businessman, was brought before Deputy Registrar of the High Court, Grace Sitati, in Eldoret, over the murder of police constable Robina Moraa.
According to reports, Moraa's body was discovered with stab wounds at her house three days prior to Ogach's arraignment.
Ogach, who appeared frail and sickly, was directed by the court to receive medical treatment before being returned to court.
Police stated that Ogach had attempted to take poison while being searched for in connection with Moraa's murder.
Ogach faces two counts of murdering the officer and attempting suicide.
Robina Moraa had only been working in Eldoret for almost two months before her gruesome murder.
Patrick Mutai, a neighbor, expressed shock and concern over the incident, stating, "We woke up to find this news that a lady has been butchered in her house... THIS IS THE FIRST INCIDENT OF IT'S KIND, WE HAVE NEVER HEARD OF SUCH AGAIN."
Mutai also noted that the killer must have been someone Moraa knew, as there was no scream for help during the attack.
