On September 16, 2019, the body of Dutch businessman Tob Cohen was retrieved from an underground water tank in an operation led by DCI George Kinoti.
According to reports, Cohen had been missing for over a month, and his sister Gabrielle Van Straten had first reported his disappearance.
DCI George Kinoti described the murder as 'gruesome' and stated that Cohen was bound, with his hands tied behind his neck, before being murdered.
'Cohen was murdered in his own residence. It is a gruesome murder! They took their time to kill innocent Cohen. I won't describe much,' said Mr Kinoti.
After killing Cohen, the perpetrators hid his body in the underground water tank, which had been sealed with concrete and disguised with bushy wood cuttings.
His body was wrapped in multiple layers of clothing, revealing signs of torture before his murder.
DCI Kinoti revealed that Cohen's estranged wife, Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, is one of the suspects in the case and had been charged with murder on Thursday.
Kinoti assured that anyone involved in the gruesome murder would not be spared, and the DCI had two suspects in custody, with more arrests to follow.
