On September 16, 2019, a Nairobi court ordered a mental health evaluation for Sarah Wairimu Kamotho, the estranged wife of missing Dutch millionaire Tob Cohen, to determine whether she is competent to stand trial in the murder case of her husband.

According to reports, Cohen had been missing since July, and his wife had told police that he was last seen on July 20, when he left their Kitisuru home in Nairobi.

However, in a shocking turn of events, the body of Tob Cohen was found inside a septic tank in his Kitisuru residence, as revealed by DCI George Kinoti.

Cohen, a former chief executive officer of Dutch conglomerate Philips East Africa, had lived in Kenya for many years and had a divorce case against his estranged wife in a fight over a multi-million-shilling property, as well as an assault case he had filed against her.

Wairimu had reportedly told police that Cohen was suffering from depression and a mental condition, which she claimed was causing problems in their relationship.

However, the Dutch embassy in Nairobi never replied to letters from Wairimu, and the court has now ordered her state of mind to be examined and a report tabled in court on Monday.
