Published on September 16, 2019, a disturbing incident has come to light in Narok North, where a village elder has eloped with a girl his eldest son was planning to marry.
The girl, a Class Eight drop-out, had been introduced to the elder by his son, who had expressed his desire to settle down with her. However, the elder found the girl 'too hot to resist' and began making passes at her whenever an opportunity presented itself.
He allegedly sweet-talked the girl and bad-mouthed his son, claiming the young man had no money of his own and depended on him for his daily needs. The elder even threatened the girl with a curse, telling her that if she insisted on marrying the young man, he would not sanction the marriage.
At her wit's end, the poor girl reluctantly gave in, and once the deal was sealed, the elder disappeared with her to Narok town, where they stayed at a lodging for days.
When Crazy Monday traced the couple to a backstreet lodging, the old man almost clobbered the writer. He was angry, but later calmed down and opened up, saying he was on honeymoon and didn't want disturbance.
However, in a shocking revelation, the old man claimed that the girl was the love of his life and that she would take care of him until he died. He also alleged that his son was too young and broke to support a wife, saying the boy couldn't even afford his own underwear.
When reached for comment, the young man expressed his shock and disappointment, saying he was helpless and feared being cursed by his father.
Local elders have picked up the matter, but it's proving to be a hard nut to crack, as the man is also a village elder and a reliable arbitrator in domestic squabbles.
