On September 16, 2019, a violent mob in West Pokot County ambushed three DCI officers who were acting on a tip-off about an arms dealer.
The officers, who were investigating a suspect believed to have been selling ammunition for years, were attacked with stones at Lomut trading center in Sigor sub-county.
According to the area police boss, Jackson Tumwet, the suspect managed to escape with the help of the mob.
Tumwet stated, “The man has been on the DCI radar and is believed to have been selling ammunition for years. He was either coming to sell or to buy the ammunition”.
The police have launched a manhunt for the suspect, who is currently on the run.
Residents have been warned against sympathizing with criminals and have been urged to cooperate with the police in their efforts to apprehend the suspect.
