Motorola, a Lenovo-owned company, has made its foray into the smart TV market with the launch of its first smart TV in India. The company has been teasing its upcoming smart TV for a while now, and the wait is finally over.
As reported earlier, Motorola is not the only smartphone manufacturer to venture into the smart TV space. OnePlus is also set to launch its OnePlus TV this month, while Xiaomi is expected to refresh its Mi TV lineup soon.
OnePlus has been teasing its upcoming OnePlus TV, which will be based on a customized version of Android and feature a 55-inch QLED 4K display. The TV will also support Dolby Atmos and Dolby Vision, and will be available for sale on Amazon during its Great Indian Festival Sale.
Motorola, on the other hand, has confirmed that its smart TV will be sold in partnership with Flipkart, a major e-commerce store in India. The company has kept mum about the name of the smart TV, but has revealed some of its specifications, including a 2.25GHz octa-core processor, Mali 450 GPU, and 16GB of onboard storage.
The Motorola smart TV will also feature a built-in 30W soundbar, which is expected to come with the pricier models. The TV will be available in various sizes, including 32-inch HD, 43-inch Full HD, and 55-inch 4K, with prices starting at Rs. 13,999 ($196) for the 32-inch HD model.
Flipkart has also revealed that the TV's in-built Motion Estimation, Motion Compensation (MEMC) technology will help deliver a better picture for gaming and high-motion content. Additionally, the TV will come with a rechargeable Bluetooth gamepad.
Motorola is also launching a new budget smartphone, the Moto E6S, alongside the TV. The smartphone will feature a Snapdragon 665 processor, 4GB of RAM, and a dual-camera setup on the back.
